program?
Answer: To install the program you should either unpack and run
setup.exe contained in scrcal.zip archive or download and
run scsetup.exe file.
Question 3. How to remove Screen Calendar from my computer?
Answer:
In case the ScreenCalendar icon appears in your system tray, you
should do the following:
right-click on the program icon (in Systray) and choose the Exit
option. After that only uninstall the program (Start - All programs - Screen Calendar
- Uninstall Screen Calendar).
In case you have already uninstalled the program, I suppose you see html-page
that had been formed together with a calendar. So please set
(temporary) another html-page as background to turn on Active Desktop
automatically.
Question 4: Can
I change calendar view as I like?
Answer: Please see the Main,
Skins settings, Calendar
view pages in the On-line Help
Question 5: How
do I change skin for my desktop?
Answer: Left-click the icon of Screen Calendar (in systray) and select
"Skins" in the tree. Then click any skin in "Skin list" and click "Apply"
Question 6: How do I save current Windows color scheme?
Answer: Click "none" in the "Skin list"
Question 7: Where are new skins?
Answer: Get more skins and links at pages Skins.
Also, you can choose any Winamp skin for your calendar.
Question 8: Is there a choosing of calendar
arrangement for any skin?
Answer: With or without skin, click just the monitor preview
in the "Main" option
to choose the calendar arrangement on your desktop.
Question 9: How do I choose another font or font color?
Answer: Select "Small" or "Full size calendar" in the "Main"
option and click the suitable item in the "Skins" option. Set any parameters.
Question 10: Can I set any images
in Screen Calendar?
Answer: Please see Background
page
Question 11: The Screen Calendar
does not show week dates (weekends only are shown) and the
background of the week dates is transparent (same as the
screen itself). What should I do?
Answer: Change background color. See the "Background"
options. Use Eyedropper Tool to choose color exactly (down
mouse button on Eyedropper and move mouse on the screen
area to choose the exact color by the eyedropper tool).
After that you can change the weekdays' font color.
Question 12: How do I pick and
note dates?
Answer: Please see Dates page
Question 13: Where is the option to exit the software?
Answer: Right-click on icon (in systray) and choose "Exit"
from menu list.
Question 14: How to register
the program?
Answer: To register the program you should right click the
systray icon of Screen Calendar to open the program menu
with the "Registration" items in it and enter
your registration data (which we sent you after the purchasing).
Question 15: I would like the desktop calendar and
WinAmp in one style. Is that possible?
Answer: Of course, if the WinAmp skins are set on your computer
you can choose the WinAmp Skins for your Screen Calendar.
Please choose any background for this yourself because the
WinAmp skins are for your player and calendar only. They
don't support any backgrounds.
Question 16:
The program does not start and the following message shows
up on my desktop: "The procedure entry point SHGetSettings
could not be located in the dynamic link library shell32.dll"
What should I do?
Answer: I'm sorry, but probably your Windows or Internet
Explorer versions are old. The Microsoft recommendation
is below:
SHGetSettings
Version 4.71 and later of Shell32.dll
Windows 95/98: Requires Windows 98 (or Windows 95 with Internet
Explorer 4.0 or later).
All systems with Internet Explorer 4.0 or 4.01 will have
the associated version of Comctl32.dll and Shlwapi.dll (4.71
or 4.72, respectively). However, for systems prior to Windows
98, Internet Explorer 4.0 and 4.01 can be installed with
or without the integrated shell. If they are installed with
the integrated shell, the associated version of Shell32.dll
will be installed. If they are installed without the integrated
shell, Shell32.dll is not updated. In other words, the presence
of version 4.71 or 4.72 of Comctl32.dll or Shlwapi.dll on
a system does not guarantee that Shell32.dll has the same
version number. All Windows 98 systems have version 4.72
of Shell32.dll.
Question 17: If XP is
set to NOT show icons and SC is set to show icons, it's
a problem.
Answer: Yes, you are right, this problem appears with WinXP. But it takes so much time to
show/hide icons by XP system functions that we've decided to choose another way to do it.
In the current version it is possible to use this feature either in the Screen Calendar or
in XP (not mixing) but we're working to solve that in the next versions.
Question 18: Should one
uninstall the prior version before installing the new version?
If one installs the new version, how does one save the prior
date entries?
Answer: If you are updating from a previous version you
do NOT need to uninstall or remove any previous version. Simply follow the instructions below:
1. Download the update.
2. Right click on the system tray icon and select EXIT
to
exit the current version of Screen Calendar you are updating.
3. Double click and install the update you downloaded.
(My thanks to David Villasana for this detail instruction)
Question 19: Will screen calender
still be good in 2006 and will I have to pay any additional
money for the upgrade?
Answer: The Screen Calendar software will work on the next years.
For registered customers all program updates are free.
Question 20: How can i remove
the link at the top of the screen? (www.screencalendar.com)
I would purchase if i could remove it.
Answer: That link is a limitation of the unregistered version
so it'll disappear after registration of the program.
Question 21: How do I postpone
the records to another day?
Answer: Click the system tray icon -> Dates -> Right
click a record from the record list to Postpone the one
to another day. Also, see Dates
page.
Question 22: With the registered version can I get rid of the
"www.screencalendar.com" logo that sits on my desktop?
Answer: The www.screencalendar.com address is a limitation
of unregistered version and will disappear just after registration.
Question 23: How i can
the Position of Calendar from top-right to down-right?
Answer: You should choose "Small calendar" previously.
Click the system tray icon -> Main -> Small calendar
-> click on the preview to replace your calendar
-> OK
Question 24: How do you
make a back up copy of the dates entered into screencalendar
5.0 on to a floppy disc?
Answer: Your notes are stored in the dates.dat file: "C(D,E
etc disk):\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Application
Data\Screen Calendar"
Question 25: hi i was wondering if i could get
step by step directions on how to make my screen calendar look like the 3
screen calendar template on the image on your homepage. that is the one where
the calendar is in the center and the icons are arranged around it. it is neither
small nor full size. how do i accomplish this?
Answer: Let's try to make the 3 screen calendar:
1. Left click the system tray icon of Screen Calendar ->
Main -> Full desktop calendar -> Apply
2. Set Margin (for example, Left: 90, Right: 90, Top:50,
Bottom: 80). You can set any margins to change size of your
screen calendar.
3. Desktop icons -> check Enable icons arrangement option
-> choose whether Spiral CW or Spiral CCW -> OK
Also you can change transparency for each group of days.
For example, for Holidays group: Skins -> Full screen
size -> Days -> Holidays -> Background -> Background
transparency -> choose 50% (you can see the preview box).
Question 26: How do I
get to a month almost a year away? I saw the next month
only.
Answer: You can set options "to show next month fully
or half only". We are planning to realize the option
to show any months of year but it will be in the next versions
of Screen Calendar. Of course, all updates are free of charge
for our customers.
Question 27: Recently I downloaded Screen
Calendar for evaluation. Now that it is installed, I can't get it off.
Screen Calendar appears over any background I choose. I first attempted
to remove the program using the Add/Remove buttons in the Control Panel…but no luck!
Any suggestions?
Answer: You should Exit the program (right-click the system
tray icon of Screen Calendar) and then uninstall the one
(Start->Programs->Screen Calendar-> Uninstall Screen
Calendar)
Question 28: I can't restore my old active desktop
page on the desktop, after I uninstall screen calendar. Is there anything I can do,
except to reinstall Windows XP? ;) ? Thanks.
Answer: Please try to set (temporary) any html-page as
the background then Active Desktop will be turned on automatically.
