The way to make desktop background
image (desktop wallpaper) look perfectly on your widescreen monitor or
laptop
If you are an owner of a widescreen
monitor or laptop and the user of Windows OS, so this article is exactly for
you.
Windows OS offers three positions of
background image on a desktop: center, tile and stretch:

If these aren’t enough for you or you
can’t make your desktop background look perfectly on your widescreen monitor
using Windows’s positions – Screen Calendar is just what you are looking
for to manage your desktop.
1)

The main problem of widescreen monitors’
owners is that when they choose stretch position, wallpaper image is
stretched to cover the entire desktop and looks distorted. If you have wallpaper
with a landscape, it may look well even being distorted, but it will still be
obvious that the picture doesn’t look normally. And if you have a picture of
people, buildings or objects - you can’t use this position at all, because
stretched picture will look ugly. Special types of image arrangement in
Screen Calendar make this problem solvable. Choosing Fit to
screen arrangement, you can check Constrain proportions to
stretch an image constraining its proportions and leaving empty spaces on its
sides. Or check also Without empty spaces to cover the entire desktop
with an image without distortion. In the latter case you picture will look
perfectly, only its top and bottom parts may be cut (that depends on an image
size). That’s what Windows doesn’t allow to do.

When an image is centered, it is
placed in the middle of the desktop and is surrounded by a solid color.
Screen Calendar allows setting up your desktop wallpaper not only in the
center of your desktop (as Windows does), but also in any other place of your
desktop. Screen Calendar offers nine different image positions
instead of Windows’s only one centered position.

An image alignment can be chosen by simply
clicking the monitor preview in Screen Calendar setup
window
3)

An image that is tiled is placed
on the desktop much like tiles are placed in a shower or a tiled floor. Tiling
is commonly used for patterns instead of photos because a pattern is one square
image that repeats itself across and down the screen, effectively forming a
single image.
